Bus Driver Job Responsibilities:

Operating the Bus:

Safely drive and operate the bus according to established routes and schedules.

Adhere to traffic regulations and maintain a valid driver’s license at all times.

Ensure the bus is in good working condition by conducting routine inspections and reporting any mechanical issues.

Passenger Safety:

Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers throughout the journey.

Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, especially those with disabilities or mobility challenges.

Enforce safety rules and regulations, such as wearing seat belts and not distracting the driver.

Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, such as accidents or medical emergencies, by following established procedures.

Customer Service:

Provide excellent customer service by being courteous, friendly, and helpful to passengers.

Answer passengers’ questions and provide information about fares, routes, and schedules.

Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when dealing with difficult or irate passengers.

Communication and Reporting:

Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatchers, and other personnel via two-way radios or other communication devices.

Report any incidents, accidents, or delays to the appropriate authorities or supervisors.

Complete necessary paperwork, such as daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance records.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as fueling, checking oil levels, and cleaning the bus.

Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the maintenance department.

Ensure the bus is clean, presentable, and in compliance with hygiene standards.

Bus driver Job Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license with the appropriate endorsements required for operating a bus.
• Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of traffic regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with passengers and colleagues.
