Bus Mechanic Job Description:
A bus mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of buses to ensure safe and efficient transportation for passengers. They work on various aspects of buses, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, and other components.
Bus Mechanic Job Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance:
Perform regular inspections and maintenance on buses according to scheduled intervals.

Check and service engines, brakes, steering systems, and other essential components to ensure they are in good working order.
Diagnosis and Repairs:
Identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues through diagnostic tests and visual inspections.

Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on each bus.
Document the parts used, labor hours, and repairs conducted to track bus maintenance history.

Ensure that all repairs and maintenance activities meet safety standards and regulations.
Part Procurement and Inventory Management:
Order and procure necessary parts and supplies required for maintenance and repairs.
Maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to troubleshoot complex issues and share knowledge.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and bus operators regarding maintenance schedules, repairs, and issues.
Emergency Repairs:
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize service disruptions and ensure passenger safety.
Equipment Operation:
Operate various tools, machinery, and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance.
Bus Mechanic Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in automotive or diesel technology is a plus.
- Proven experience as a bus mechanic or in a similar role, showcasing strong technical knowledge of bus systems and components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to bus maintenance and repairs.
