Cafeteria Cashier Job Description:

As a Cafeteria Cashier, you will be an essential part of our cafeteria team, responsible for processing payments and providing excellent customer service to our patrons. Your primary duty will be to handle transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Cafeteria Cashier Job Responsibilities:

Cash Handling: Receive payments from customers for food and beverages using cash registers or point-of-sale systems. Ensure accuracy in counting money, issuing change, and processing credit or debit card transactions.

Customer Service: Greet customers with a smile and provide a warm and courteous experience. Answer any questions or inquiries they may have about the menu, prices, or cafeteria policies.

Order Processing: Take orders from customers, verify their items, and enter them into the system accurately. Confirm the order details with customers to prevent any errors or misunderstandings.

Cleanliness and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organized cashier station at all times. Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards while handling food items and money.

Menu Knowledge: Be knowledgeable about the cafeteria menu, including daily specials, promotions, and allergen information. Help customers make informed choices based on their preferences or dietary requirements.

Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other cafeteria staff, including servers, cooks, and managers, to ensure a smooth flow of operations and exceptional customer service.

Cash Reconciliation: Balance cash registers at the end of each shift and reconcile any discrepancies. Prepare daily reports on transactions and submit them to the cafeteria management.

Upselling: Suggest additional items or promotions to customers to enhance their dining experience and increase sales for the cafeteria.

Handling Complaints: Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and promptly. If necessary, escalate the issue to the cafeteria manager for resolution.

Adherence to Policies: Comply with all cafeteria policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a secure and efficient working environment.

Cafeteria Cashier Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a cashier or in a similar customer service role is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly and outgoing demeanor with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a responsible approach to handling money.
  • Familiarity with cash registers or point-of-sale systems is a plus.
